WHY I DECIDED TO MAKE THIS BLOG

- To create a platform to share my experiences of being  a young African man studying and living in Australia

- To encourage Sudanese, South-Sudanese and POC in the diaspora to engage in STEM and careers in medicine and health.

- To write about my vulnerabilities, encountered prejudices and discrimination, in the face of the intersectionality I find myself in.

- To foster a community of people, who are inspired to pursue their dreams, with a sense of purpose and service.

- To create a portrait of my journey, showcasing my position between two competing cultures- that which I was brought up in, and that which I find myself in.

Anei Ochan-Thou.png

I am Sudanese by birth, South Sudanese by ethnicity and Australian by my upbringing.

This blog is my way of sharing my experiences navigating these various identities and spaces, and hopefully, marrying them into the person I hope to become! In this space, I will be honest, vulnerable and most importantly, I will be me.
