Hey! So Glad You're Here.

My life thus far has been a rainbow of experiences, crossing continents, cultures and identities. I am Sudanese by birth, South Sudanese by ethnicity and Australian by my upbringing. This blog is my way of sharing my experiences navigating these various identities and spaces, and hopefully, marrying them into the person I hope to become! In this space, I will be honest, vulnerable and most important, I will be me.

In between these experiences, I will interlace it with my medical journey so far, and what’s it like being a South-Sudanese Australian pursuing medicine and the call of service leadership and so, expressing myself through this blog.

As a metaphor, I am pancake eater advocate and through this blog I will be encouraging this practice! Abraham Bankole, MD referred to the saying of eating your pancakes on a daily basis. Pancakes are appetising and delicious when you have a few at a time. However, when one has too many stacked pancakes, then it becomes overwhelming to get through and not as appealing as initially believed. Similarly, on a daily basis we have our pancakes of commitments, and goals. If not dealt with, these commitments and goals accumulate, and it too can become overwhelming. So, eat your pancakes on a daily basis!

Join me on this journey! If you’d like to get in contact with me for any reason, I can be reached on my socials and email: anei.thou@gmail.com.
